Today was a catch-up day as we prepare for riding lessons to start. I trimmed horse hooves at the Oakham rescue, unloaded a load of hay, and cleaned up some from the big fencing project.

Tomorrow is June 19; and the "new" 155 year old holiday: Juneteenth. I think most of us find the concept of someone owning another person unimaginable; which maybe makes it more difficult for us to understand the ramifications of the effect slavery has had even on today's society. It's about time productive conversations and actions take place. City to Saddle, the non-profit that supports many of the inner-city youth that come to Mesa Farm each summer, is also looking at what additional connections and actions our organization can make and do to the betterment of all.
