Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday weekend in a socially distancing manner. Social gatherings on a small scale can be done now that the weather is warmer and we can be outside!
 
Best trail camera photos of the week:
 
First and third photo: A rabbit. I think this is a New England cottontail; which are rarer than the Eastern cottontail. They live more in forest and brushy areas. The identifying features are smaller eyes than the Eastern cottontail (who live more in grassy areas, and apparently need larger eyes to see predators), black on the front part of the ears, and the New England cottontail usually has a black spot on it's forehead while the Eastern generally has a white spot there. I think it takes a genetic test to tell for sure...
 
Second photo: An opposum. They used to not exist in New England, but Massachusetts is now part of their natural habitat.
