Hi all. A sad ending to a weatherwise beautiful day as we had to put Bloopie down late this evening. Even though on a soupy mash diet, he's had numerous choking incidents the past 6 months, a couple of which required veterinary help. She couldn't resolve this one. She feels there was a tumor blocking his esophogus that was behind it all. He lived at Mesa Farm for 18 years and we don't know how old he was when he arrived. He'd lost some body condition last fall but four times a day feeding of mash put some weight on him over the winter. I'd planned on retiring him because when the vet was out for spring vaccinations last month she diagnosed some arthritis in his right front leg that was bothering him.
Lots of good memories of the goofy old pony.
I'm going to move Sage down to the retirement pen so Gypsy has company.
